A Guide to Increasing Chi through Flowers
Throughout the ages and across all cultures, flowers have traditionally been seen as sources of joy and comfort. Less well known is their capacity to attract positive chi via the ancient principles of Feng Shui.
Practitioners of Feng Shui should steer clear of dried or artificial flowers, given that these symbolize lifelessness and decay according to the fundamental principles of the movement. Try instead to fill your home with fresh flowers, which will ensure a good energy flow and engender a sense of balance and calmness. Likewise, opt for living house plants, and be sure to deadhead them regularly, clearing away any dead stems or flowers.
Certain flowers and plants are particularly renowned for increasing good Chi. Sunflowers, for example, are associated with stability and endurance, while cyclamen are thought to bring passion and romance wherever they are found. The long, cascading leaves of the spider plant apparently encourage calm and general well-being, and African violets are the best choice those seeking fame, approval or recognition of their work.
For optimum effect, it is advisable to place certain colours and/or types of flowers in specific locations within the house or workplace. Pinks are considered a good choice for the bedroom as a result of their tender and harmonic properties. Similarly, red tulips are thought to encourage romance. A wreath of flowers on the front door will provide protection, particularly when accompanied by reflective ribbons, while active areas of the home should be filled with balance-inducing lilies and orchids which will help to restore peace and harmony following arguments.
